.My work here is done

Seminary is over. Today was the last day.

It's especially bittersweet for me this year since I've decided that it will be my last. I will miss it for sure.

BUT, I'm already feeling a bit relieved and a little excited to figure out what I can do now that I'll have some free time. Awesome.

I love these kids (even though they kinda put me through the wringer this year) and I’m so glad to know that a few of them love me too! I really hope that I served as their teacher the best that I could and didn’t lead them too far astray. And if I did, I hope that their teacher next year can bring them all back? haha

.Another, another car!

Air's sister recently offered her old car to us for a pretty good deal. All we had to do was get it repaired back to working condition. Sold!

Ok, so all the repairs ended up costing a bit more than we expected. Oh well? :S

Remember last time we bought a little beater car to drive around town? And then this happened very shortly thereafter? Yeah... Hopefully this car will be good for a while! I mean, it better be! We need it!

Anyway, no more walking to work for this girl!

Unless I want to, of course.

You know what else? We discovered goose heaven recently—and being the Gusa’s that we are, we felt the need to go feed our cousins.

[Below] is a mother goose nesting and the father goose protecting her. This father goose was so focused on protecting his mate and her eggs he couldn’t even eat the bread I was throwing to him. It was intense. Did you know that geese make the most horrible hissing sound when they are angry? I hate it!

Also, it should be mentioned that I got attacked by this daddy goose. He came flying straight at me when I tried to feed the mother! AHH! Why did I do that!??

I say this all the time, but thank you for coming spring! Life is so good when you’re around!

.D&C Minute to Win It

I organized a little Minute to Win It game for my seminary class this week. We play different games every Friday and this game was great for these kids because it got most of them pretty involved and playing. Of course, there are always gonna be those kids in my class who don’t care about being involved in anything, or the kids who complain about every little thing; but it was mostly really great! Do you wanna know how to play? Ok!

I divided the class into two teams and let them choose team names. (‘Golden Monkey Bosses’ and ‘United Order’)

I gave them a scripture mastery clue or a clue about a modern day prophet. Whichever team gets the right answer gets a point, and a chance to get a second point by playing a Minute to Win It game. (I assigned a student to keep score and another one to take pictures)

Here are the games:

Hymn-inos

Barbara knocked the books over and got them to hit the finish line within a minute.

Cookie Face

I let the whole team try this one. If anyone could get a cookie from their forehead to their mouth with no hands in a minute they win. Both teams tried, only two kids could do it. (this game is my FAVORITE)

Rapid Fire

Casson tried to knock the cans off the table with rubber bands but couldn’t do it in a minute. So the other team got a chance too. Not easy!

Nut Stacker

Aiden tried to stack eight nuts on top of each other in a minute, but could only get five. The other team tried and got the same.

This Blows

Casson had to use a balloon to blow 15 plastic cups off the table. He did it, easy.

I had more games planned, but we ran out of time! Maybe next time? Too bad I didn’t think of this game earlier this year, the school year is over in just two and a half more weeks! WOAH!

.days go by

Is it just me or has time just been flying by for the last few months? I keep forgetting what day it is and before I know it, it's Saturday!!

We had a nice night this week hanging out with Air’s sister Tam. We like her! We ate dinner at Denny’s. Air ordered a bacon and maple syrup sundae!!! CRAZY!! It was actually soooo good! Apparently bacon is good in anything these days? Who even knew?

Air looks like his hand is sneaking up behind him? haha Tam showed us this cute royal wedding/Cinderella simile picture. Have you seen this yet?

Then we went downtown to a big walking bridge that crosses the river. The weather has been so beautiful lately! I love how spring is like the awakening of the world after winter. The trees are budding, the ice is melting, the bugs are coming back out, and so are we!

And have I mentioned that I love this city? Edmonton is beautiful!

And then Tam and I became cheesy models for the camera… it made sense at the time.

Oh and remember that big check we got back from the University of Alberta… yeeeah, it’s gone.

The rest went to extensive car repairs. Ugh! I’ll tell you about it later. For now, I'm gonna enjoy my Saturday off work!

.Mom's Day happenings

Mother's Day was grand up here with Air's family. We went to their ward for church. During sacrament meeting the fire alarm went off and everyone had to evacuate the building... how weird is that?

Some kid most likely pulled the alarm, and then that kid was probably thrilled when they got to go play outside and see firemen for the next half hour! haha

Also, I got a chocolate bar for being a mom woman '18 and older'. Yay me!

We had dinner with the fam and talked about what we love about our mothers.

I said I'm grateful that both of my mothers have been willing to work so hard without complaining to keep our homes clean and to keep us all fed.

Air said he's grateful that his mom has been more like a friend to him than a typical mother. She showed him the type of relationship that he should have with his future wife and kids.

Then Air's Mom said some of the sweetest things ever to me (and made everyone cry). She told me she’s grateful that she can be my mother-in-law and she hopes that I feel like I can talk to her as if she were my own mom, because she feels really sorry that I can't be near mine.

My heart melted.

And then we gave them gifts

Tickets to see Wicked!!! She was soooo surprised!

Even though I’m not a mother yet I’m glad there’s a day for me to think of my Moms, my Grandmothers, and all of the awesome motherly people I know that have blessed my life since I can remember. Our faithful mothers are Heavenly Father’s gift to the world. They deserve at least this one day for that.
