.Easter 2011

20110424 Easter (130) edit

We were in Cherry Grove on Saturday and Sunday(Easter) with the family. It is so beautiful there... I forget how much can be done out in the country. Who needs TV’s and computers when you have quads, nature, trampolines and family??

We drove up a day later than the rest of the family with my mother-in-law and Josh since we all worked.

We went over to Air’s cousin Shay’s home for the party! Games, chatting, food, karaoke, dancing, and fireworks! We loved watching all of our cousins cute kids sing their hearts out. haha

We slept in Aunt Tracey’s motor home for the night. So nice actually!

On Easter morning we all got ready and headed over to the church across the street for the Cherry Grove ward’s Stake Conference. It’s broadcast to there from Edmonton and sadly, the broadcast cut out a few times… but we did get to hear some amazing and uplifting talks before it stopped.

We really enjoyed the rest of the sunny day with the whole family. Lunch, cousins, relaxing, games, and an egg hunt for the kiddies.

This boy is my favorite. Our cousin’s son Ethan waiting patiently for the quad to get back… and then here he is driving the quad around causing trouble.

Alas, it was time for all of us Gusa's to head home on Sunday afternoon… but not before playing with the puppies! They always have a new batch of puppies at their house! Luckies!

And we stopped on the way home to steal some of the local roadside plant life...

We slept over at the family’s on Sunday night and spent the evening sitting around a campfire telling stories. Scary Easter stories! No, not really.

.ramblings of today

Today I didn't work. And what does one do when one has a day off and no car, you ask?

You stay at home mostly. Clean, work out, organize, watch a movie, call the insurance company about the new car, email, do loads of laundry, sleep... And then there's the hour that I got to go to lunch with Air and the kid he takes care of.

They came to pick me up today at noon. I selected the lunch spot... Burger King. What? We have coupons, "2-can-dine-for-$8.98" --no it does not rhyme.

In the car Air seemed extremely chipper. He's always a happy guy, but when I proceeded to tell Air about my morning. Seminary stuff mostly... some stress that I'm having about students and what not. He didn't show me his usual concern. He listened and then enthusiastically started talking about other things.

I thought this was odd. Maybe it had something to do with the kid listening in the back seat?

So we're at Burger King eating whoppers... You know what's funny about Air and me? We are completely and utterly unable to throw away our leftover food. It is unthinkable for us to ever consider throwing away those extra french fries or the last bite of a hamburger. THERE ARE STARVING CHILDREN IN AFRICA! but more importantly, if I were ever in Africa and starving, maybe I would have some leftovers to pull out of the fridge and eat. I will never have to starve ...It's pretty genius.

But what is not genius is the fact that spell-check just corrected my spelling of the word 'genious'. Wow.

Anyway, we're at Burger King and I notice the kid Air watches has something written on his arm in permanent marker. It says "HAPPY 4:20". So here's the thing: Air has to go with this kid anywhere he wants. It's his job. And yesterday he had to take him downtown because he wanted to go to the big 4:20 celebration.
Oh, you haven't heard of the big 4:20 celebration downtown? Well, either had I, until yesterday. Do you want to guess what all of the homeless people and druggies do together at 4:20 downtown on April 20th? Yeeeeaaah....

Air was acting strange, and I start to wonder if he had possibly inhaled a little too much smoke the day before and was perhaps.... dare I say.... high? buzzed? a little?

Back to BK... So then who do you think should walk in the doors there at Burger King today? LDS Missionaries!! WOO! I say "Hey Elders!"
Of course they probably don't know us. I just get excited to see them around town. There aren't as many missionaries around here as there are in Utah..... (why would that even be?)

So then we're driving away from Burger King (with my leftovers, of course) and the 4:20 thing comes up in conversation. Air says that the air (the actual air) was so full of smoke that you couldn't even breathe. Everyone was coughing like crazy, and still smoking. Retards.

I was pretty sure I had it figured out by now, so I tell Air that he's been acting a little weird... like last night he stayed up really late playing games and he couldn't focus on one thing at a time...

He denied it.

But does someone who is high ever really recognize it themselves? Does getting high usually last for more than a day?
These are questions I never thought I'd need to know ...and I think it's pretty hilarious to hear myself thinking them. And a bit sad. My poor Air bear.

Okay, so here's a really good question --Is my wonderful hubby of almost three years going to completely murderize me for posting this?

Probably.

.Sunday walk & a letter to my Mother

20110417 walk (40) edit

Sunday was nice. Even though I had a migraine in the morning I started feeling better so Air and I went on a walk around the block. The snow is melting, yay! I didn’t do my hair… or my face… and I was wearing non-prescription glasses. Just pretend I look gorgeous in these pictures, ok? Great.

Dear Mother dearest,

I miss you so much this week. I really hurt my own feelings by planning on going to visit you for Easter and then having to change my plans for later this summer. I hope you guys have a fun time with the family and miss us as much as we miss you! We plan on seeing you in July and we can’t WAIT!

Also, thank you for my one and only Easter decoration, it’s so adorable. Can I inherit your crafting talent or what? Great.

.Cul-de-sac in plural is culs-de-sac.

20110414 snow in april (10) edit

Seriously mid-April? Are we really gonna do this again? Just when all of the snow was melting away you're giving us a fresh new coat? Alright... If you're sure that's what's best.
Personally, I don't feel too good about it. It feels like we accidentally pushed the reset button on winter.

Guess what blog--I've locked myself out of the house twice in the last two days. Let me tell you.

(1)Yesterday morning I ran out the door to seminary and realized I left the car keys in the house. I had to rapid-fire at the door bell to wake Air up. Poor Air-bear.

(2)Today I walked outside with Air as he left for work to take pictures of the snow. After watching him drive away I went back to the house and found the door closed and locked behind us. I had nothing but my camera.

Here's the bright side: (so don't get too depressed by all of this negativity, k?)

I went to the front porch and less than one minute later my neighbor (Marlene) came walking out her door on her way to work (I assume). In all the time I've lived here in this cul-de-sac, we have never had a chance to meet! We just smile and wave as we pass by each other going in and out. She looked at me and said, "SNOW??", I laughed and casually said, "Can you believe it? .......Oh, and I'm locked out of my house right now, heh" She laughed and then paused, "Wait, really?" "Yeah... do you think I could use your phone?"

She let me into her home and took me to the kitchen phone. (By the way, I love seeing the inside of people's houses for the first time!) I called Air and told him to come back (obviously). Then I apologized to Marlene in case I had made her late to wherever she was going and thanked her. She said it was nice meeting me finally.

Anyway, I'm sorry if this is all very boring to you... but I feel pretty good about knowing my neighbor now.

And I just know that it was a small tender mercy from a Heavenly Father who loves me and watches over me that she happened to walk by as I was locked out of my home in the snow for only a minute. I didn't even have to go knocking on stranger's doors for help. Yikes! If this weather is what it takes for Heavenly Father to remind me that he loves me… then I’ll take it. Every drop.

.Great Day in the Morning!

20110413 Willard Richards by Ron Patrick (2) edit

I had a most excellent morning today and I wanted to share it.

Early morning seminary we had a guest. Brother Patrick (the north-western Canada Seminary coordinator) came to our class to show us his re-enactment of Willard Richards from Carthage Jail at the time of Joseph Smith's martyrdom. It was excellent, Bro. Patrick is such an amazing teacher. I taped some of it for Air to see what he missed.

My favorite breakfast. Sesame seed bagel covered in strawberry cream cheese with a side of strawberries and Kiwi's. Two delicious fruits that are very similar in taste.

I like to eat kiwi's with the skin on. I know, I'm a freak!

Air and I have a new favorite item in our home. It's this workout game for the Kinect--EA Active. I highly recommend it. It’s really great because it sees you and tells you what to do and every workout you do is different. It also comes with this heart-rate monitor. Awesome. We've been working hard to get off those extra winter pounds.

Please let me lose those extra winter pounds… I am such a fatty.

.ikea for food

20110408 ikea food (9) edit

We had Air’s three youngest sib’s stay over on Friday night. We played video games, quesadilla’s for dinner, watched a movie, snacked our brains out, thought about having a picnic (had the weather cooperated), and just partied hard! Tiana mentioned that she was so excited to sleep at our house again because she ‘never gets to sleep at small places’. She is so sweet.

Oh how we took living in larger places for granted…

The next morning we met with the rest of the family at Ikea for lunch. This is becoming a regular place for us to just eat. I think I’m addicted to their meatballs.

Nobody looks very excited to see the camera in these pictures. Besides Jadey, of course. Of course.

I think I was just dreading the rest of the day that I would spend at work on a busy Saturday. I’m still recovering from that madness.

Have a happy week, k guys? Kaaaay guuuuys??
