.called to serve

I love the comparison of a beehive to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. With the busy bees all buzzing around. Doing their part to keep the hive running and producing something good. The little bees work so hard to pollinate and gather for the good of the hive.
They seem to know how important their little jobs are.

But ya know what? if the bees were unwilling to do that, there would be no hive.

And if there were no hive, there would never be the goodness of honey.

*************

I believe I forgot
to tell you what my new calling is?

A while ago, the Bishop of our ward called Air and I into his office for a meeting. He asked me to serve at the Young Women's camp this year. I told him I'd love to, as long as I could get work off. (turns out I couldn't)

He looked at me and said, "You've got a new calling coming soon. I've had a lot of people in the ward ask if they could have you; but do you have any requests?"

I don't know if you've ever had a bishop ask you this, but I was surprised at the question. I said, "Young Womens would be fun... as long as I don't have to teach every day?" (this, because that's what I'm used to doing in my calling --teaching seminary every morning)

A few weeks later our Bishop asked Air and I back into his office and he asked me to be the Beehive Advisor! (Of course, that's not a real beehive. In our church, "beehive" is referring to the little girls aged 12-13. Part of our Young Women's organization)

I said, "For sure!" (Shouldn't be surprising, surely I would've said yes to anything)

And then that busy Bishop of ours looked at Air and said, "I've got a new calling coming soon for you too, Brother Gusa..."

more on that later!

We're leaving to Utah tomorrow! Can't wait to see you folks!

I got to attend my last class in ‘beginning cake decorating’ at Michaels this week.

I made this lovely little thing that SADLY cannot be eaten by neither Air nor myself.

I'm sick... I may have caught what Air had recently?
&
Air's new doctor put him on a strict detox diet for 2 weeks...

Speaking of Air’s new doctor. We like him! He actually seems to know what he’s talking about and he promises to get Air better soon!
I took a photo of all of the medications he’s taking all day every day:

And the diet is a yeast-free, dairy-free, fruit-free, sugar-free, everything-we-eat-free one.

So, Air’s been cooking lots of amazing meals that look like this:

Aren’t I lucky to have such a great cook for a husband??

Anyone want some cake? Please?

We took the train down to Cirque Du Soleil last night with some friends.

Air surprised me on Wednesday night with the tickets… he is so awesome! This was our second time going together (the first was on our honeymoon in Orlando)

It was an amazing show!

.feed the birds

20110707 missionaries (11) edit

Air and I never sign up to feed the missionaries when they pass the list around at church.

I couldn't really tell you why, other than that our apartment is kinda tiny... and food is kinda expensive... and we're pretty busy most nights... and we think the missionaries are spoiled for getting meals made for them... and sure, we might be a little lazy.

Are any of those excuses good enough?

I guess they were good enough for me... until last week, while I was sitting in Relief Society I was handed the list. I looked down at it and signed up for a meal without even thinking. After I passed it on I realized that I had just offered to feed missionaries for the first time in my life. Does that count as a milestone?

I felt good about it. So good.

That good feeling only got better when the day came and we cooked up delicious pork chops and then sat down with some fantastic missionaries we had never met.

I guess there’s a reason people feed those guys… they are the Lord’s servants, after all. Now I feel blessed to be able to help them out a little, and I really do appreciate the work they’re doing for our church. They’re doing a great job.

So, I’ve gained a testimony of missionary meals. Good on me.
