.back up

20100509 Mother's Day (113) edit
We've been parking right here
for the past two weeks. In front of my parent’s home in Utah.

But now we're back in Canada. Weird. Sometimes it feels so strange to suddenly be so far away from those people and places again. And then to go so long before seeing them all. I guess its all part of moving away. Every time I go back it seems like more and more people I love have left too. And I get to see less and less of you guys.

Why can't we all just live in one little neighborhood together?

Here's the first installment of our adventures there:

We drove down. We always do. It only takes 16 hours or so… no big deal right? Besides, it's a beautiful drive!

We made it there just in time for my Mom’s birthday! We got to go out for lunch to her favorite restaurant, Souper Salad. One of Air's new faves too.

…later that night we went to our favorite restaurant with some friends in Provo. Sushi Ya!

After sushi we went home with Jesse, Lauren and their little girl Abby to hang out.
That's Lauren sitting to the right, just days before she had a cute little baby girl!

After church on Sunday we went to visit all of my grandparents at their homes.

First we ate dinner at my Ellis grandparent’s. My Grandma Ellis is probably THE best cook in the world by the way.

Look at how awesome they are!

And then we went up to Salt Lake to my Grandma Leary’s house.

My Grandma Leary is so cute.

This was Air’s first time there (crazy) so I took him on a ‘tour’ of her awesome home. A home that I’ve always been very fond of.

My Grandma told us something that I didn't really know. Apparently my Grandpa Leary (who passed away about 7 years ago) built their home with his own hands when they were young and raising their kids. My Dad grew up in this home too.
Boy, they don't make houses like they used to. I sure do love little old quirky houses! So much!

Woah, this is only covering the first four days of our trip! Can you believe it!

More to come...

.going down

The snow is gone. The grass is greener. Our cars are washed. We had a great weekend.

Feeling pretty good.

We haven't been taking too many pictures the last few weeks but after looking through our camera I found a few randoms:

Air's yummy stuffed potatoes

Our clean cars

Yesterday we did an engagement photo shoot for some friends

Tonight we made our own Vietnamese food. Chicken Vermicelli!

The good news is that we are going down to visit the fam and friends in Utard TOMORROW! As soon as Air is done with his last final.

It has been devastatingly too long since we've seen you guys, and we can't wait! We've got some fun plans already... so stay tuned?

.awesomeness in the ward

Yesterday was a storm. A real storm. The wind was blowing so hard our house quivered and rattled. Lightning flashed through the windows as rain soaked everything outdoors. Snow and ice covered the ground, the wind made it form funny shingle-like shapes on the pavement.

Air was sick this morning so I drove on that icy pavement to seminary alone. It was still dark out. It felt cold again, just when it was starting to get warmer. I looked at houses I passed and saw warm glowing lights in the windows. Wished I were still in one of those warm houses. Preferably the one I had just left. With my husband in it. It could be any house really, as long as he's there to cuddle with.

I walked into the pitch-dark building and flipped on all of the lights. Same as every morning. But it felt colder than usual.

I opened my classroom door and felt an immediate rush of heat. Thank goodness the heater was running in there. Then I saw this and felt even more warmth. And I snapped some pictures with my phone.

Those lovely lovely "Masked Mormons" have done it again! For the first time?
{luckily they aren't too masked because they wrote their names for me to know who they were}
I'm so glad to know that I add some awesomeness to the ward.
I definitely don't add as much awesomeness as they do. They are the awesomest!

Speaking of that; I'm pretty sure I'm getting a lot of praise for doing a whole lot less than most members of the ward. Take the Relief Society President, for example: she constantly serves and gives to people in our ward. She works night and day and has a lot of responsibilities. Yet she still finds the time to drop by my house to give me a jar of homemade strawberry jam for my birthday. And she does this for everyone in the ward.

She deserves more praise and gratitude than I do.

Maybe I could bring more warmth and praise to people I'm grateful for.

Do you see how my students teach me more than I teach them?

By the way, the writing at the top of the board says:
PREPARATION PRECEDES POWER
The lesson was on preparing to receive personal revelation.

A topic that I very much needed to remember

.Eastern...

Air’s parent’s The Easter bunny got us Easter “baskets” again {they were actually hats}.

That bunny is so so nice to us!

Don’t we look cool? Air even shaved a mustache for the full effect.

And, of course, we colored dozens of eggs!

We have way too much fun with this.

After being spiritually fed by some great conference talks we went for a family walk on Sunday night to the best park ever!

Check out Air’s Mom! She rocks at jump rope!

We all love jump rope…

And we played Rockband. A lot. All weekend long. I still have those songs in my head.

When we got home I was very surprised to find this note on our front door…

I followed the bunny footprints to our bedroom closet…

And found this loot!:

Thanks Air bunny! I heart you! A lot!
