.project seven: main bathroom

20120417 possession day (56) edit2

Here it is. The main bathroom of our house in all of its possession day glory. Very peach and very gross. The sink/countertop was cracking and splitting ↓↓↓

the walls had wallpaper under the paint ↓↓↓

The peach bathtub was stained and scratched up ↓↓↓

but we lived with it like this for over a year, although we did replace the toilet… too bad it was so hard to reach the flushing buttons underneath that counter top haha ↓↓↓

We finally started demolishing it in July of 2013. First went the huge mirror and countertop ↓↓↓

Then the vanity and toilet ↓↓↓

Then the tile and drywall around the tub ↓↓↓

and then the tub! IN ONE PIECE! Aaron is amazing ↓↓↓

He replaced all of the plumbing. And changed the poly butylene lines to pex ↓↓↓

Then we installed new wet rock and a brand new, beautiful soaker tub ↓↓↓

Now my problem was the fact that all the edges of the ceiling texture had been pulled off with the old drywall ↓↓↓

I had to search for a solution myself since we weren’t willing to pay someone to come again. I found this stuff ↓↓↓

So I took a big sponge and worked a lot of magic…. a lot! ↓↓↓

It wasn’t perfect… but with some elbow grease and a lot of time I made it work and blend together.
Here it is after I painted the whole ceiling (also after Aaron installed a nice new pot light) ↓↓↓

And then I painted the walls ↓↓↓

We cut out the spots with wallpaper and put new drywall patches in (now you can’t tell there used to be wallpaper under there, thank goodness) ↓↓↓

Floors were next. We used the same awesome laminate tiles we put in our kitchen. We love this stuff ↓↓↓

Finally we could start tiling the bathtub at the end of July ↓↓↓

And we finally installed the new vanity/countertop in August ↓↓↓

And once we finally finished grouting, the bathroom was almost done! Just missing a mirror over the vanity ↓↓↓

Air actually cut the big old mirror down to the size we wanted and he built a frame himself ↓↓↓

then I painted it white ↓↓↓

…AAAAAAND HERE IT IS! DONE. DONE. DONE. ↓↓↓

This whole project took us about 3 and a half months from start to finish… we think that’s pretty good considering how sick Air is... and the fact that we did the whole thing ourselves. haha Also there are still a few things I need to hang on the walls… but close enough.

It was a lot of work, but we love how it turned out.

Thanks for looking

.Big news!

20140309 big bro news (10) edit

Air and I are excited to announce that we are expecting baby #2!

Coming to the world on or around October 26th. At which point Ames can begin to prove himself worthy of wearing this shirt. *wink-wink*

We had a lot of fun announcing this to our families last month. Facetime with my parents:

And we had Aaron’s family over and let them figure it out when they saw his shirt… that was fun.

Otherwise… I have to mention now how terribly ill and tired I have been for the past month and how that is my only good excuse for abandoning this blog... and almost all of the other projects on my to-do-list. So sorry… but hopefully I start feeling like myself again real soon.

.Weekend in Calgary

20140315 calgary zoo (80) edit

So, like I said, we spent a weekend in Calgary this month and had so much fun staying with our friends, the Harkers! We love their cute little kiddos and their beautiful home and especially we love Russ and Amy… We are lucky to have such good people as friends.

We had an awesome time with them at the zoo on Saturday. Air and I have been dying to take Ames to a zoo again now that he knows all the animals and obsesses over the Lion King and all of his Lion King toys. It was wonderful! Here are the pictures:

.Happy St Patrick's Day

20140317 st patricks day (43) edit

Happy St Patrick’s Day!

We aren’t doing much today… Aaron is working late and Ames and I are eating dinner without him... Tonight we’ll have FHE and hopefully do some work on our bathroom renovation.

It’s been a little while since I’ve updated the blog again. We’ve been pretty busy and I really should be updating you on all of it. Soon I’ll tell you all about how Ames is obsessed with Lion King… and how he loves to say “come on” and grab your hand and pull you everywhere with him… and about our bathroom renovations… and about our weekend trip to Calgary… and about Air’s health and things all the tests have found… and about the snow finally melting and Spring beginning.

So many things!

But for now, we’re chillin’ at home and wearing green.
