.in our kitchen

Life revolves around a kitchen. And ever since our kitchen has been done we've definitely revolved around it. We absolutely love cooking and hanging out in there.

We've been having lots of dinners and BBQ’s (we BBQ throughout winter) with family and friends.

We had an especially awesome party a few weeks ago when a bunch of Air's old high school buddies and their families were in town. It is so nice to finally have a place that's big enough to host something like this for everyone.

Oh and we finally got bar stools on that same night from the nicest seller ever on kijiji. (He brought them to us! And then he wrote me another email thanking me for buying them! Woah)

A few weeks ago we had Air's Mom and sisters come over to make churros and cheesy pop-overs with us. YUM! We had a blast. This kitchen has so much counter space now it’s incredible.

And homemade churros are delicious!

I'm still shopping for 6 matching kitchen chairs that I like. No easy task.

.toes discovered check

Our little guy found his toesies a few weeks ago. I have been waiting for this day—it’s one of my most favorite baby tricks so it deserves its own post.

Holding onto his toes is always accompanied by screaming and gurgling and rolling to the side. Always and only falling to his right side. Little weirdo.

One of the biggest joys in my life has been having a happy baby. And this guy… he is happy all the time.

.fifth month

Oh blog, what can I tell you about Ames this month. He’s a whole new boy lately he understands so much and laughs and laughs all the day long. Sometimes we can even make him laugh while he’s crying. That’s my favorite.

Ames started being scared of anyone but Air and I at the beginning of this month, but seems to be doing much better around other people now.

He always likes to stand and jump, and still dislikes tummy time but tolerates it every day.

Oh, and he loves loves loves his toys.

Ames has 2 teeth (bottom middle)
weighs 20 lbs
63 cm (24 3/4") long
he has rolled over 3 times on his own (tummy to back) and can sit up alone for a few seconds before falling over

.sledding

We went sledding with the family last week. We’ve been having some decent temperatures lately and knew we had to take advantage before it gets deadly again. Ames hasn’t spent much time outdoors yet in his lifetime!

 

Air’s Mom and I decided to take Ames down the hill for his first time… and… it was pretty pathetic actually.

We started out fine, but noticed that we were veering off to the side of the hill too much. So in an attempt to turn away from the side wall we wiped out just before hitting it.

Then I rolled back onto the sled and we went down the rest of the way… ridiculously slowly… and backwards? Ames’ expression didn’t seem to change during any of this. So I’ll just say he loved it? haha

Everyone else did much better than us and had lots of fun.

The sun goes down much too early in the winter… this is my only regret.

.a new year begins

We had so much fun bringing in the new year with the family this year.

We wore the ugliest sweaters we could find …cuz we felt like it. Mine was especially ugly. Ames's came from my sister-in-law Missy (thanks Missy!).

He is such a fun boy these days. The life of every party.
